Jim Marvine serves as Director of MinistryServe at PastorServe, where he is passionate about ensuring that nonprofit executives and ministry leaders never have to carry the weight of leadership alone. Guided by the conviction that ministry leaders are better together, Jim leads confidential peer advisory groups for CEOs, executive directors, and ministry founders. These monthly cohorts provide trusted environments for collaborative problem-solving, accountability, strategic planning, and personal encouragement.

Through MinistryServe, Jim helps leaders navigate the unique challenges facing faith-based organizations, including board governance, financial sustainability, organizational culture, succession planning, ministry collaboration, and executive coaching. His work combines deep spiritual formation with practical leadership wisdom, equipping leaders to thrive both personally and professionally.

Jim brings a unique blend of marketplace success and ministry leadership experience. He spent more than 30 years in the healthcare industry, specializing in surgical product sales and development. During that time, he co-founded a publicly traded physician practice management company while also earning two medical patents.

In 2011, a series of providential circumstances led Jim into full-time ministry. He relocated to Dallas, Texas, to become President and CEO of Bill Glass Behind the Walls, one of the nation’s largest prison ministry and evangelism training organizations. Over eight years, he helped guide the ministry through a critical season of transition while providing strategic leadership and financial stability. During that time, Jim joined an inaugural peer advisory group for ministry leaders. The relationships, insights, and accountability he experienced profoundly shaped his leadership journey and ultimately inspired his vision for MinistryServe.

Following his tenure at Bill Glass Behind the Walls, Jim returned to Kansas City to serve as President and CEO of Doulos Ministries, which operated Shelterwood Academy, a Christ-centered adolescent behavioral health facility with a 40-year legacy. In October 2022, he successfully negotiated and completed a partnership acquisition between Shelterwood and Embark Behavioral Health, helping secure the ministry’s future growth and impact.

Jim’s connection to Shelterwood is deeply personal. More than 40 years ago, during a parents’ weekend at the academy, he encountered the transforming love of Jesus Christ. Decades later, he returned to lead the very organization that played such a pivotal role in his faith journey.

Earlier in ministry, Jim also served as Men’s Pastor at Grace Community Church in Arlington, Texas.

Today, Jim is focused on expanding the reach of MinistryServe by coaching ministry executives, working with nonprofit boards, and launching new peer advisory cohorts that help leaders overcome isolation, strengthen their organizations, and maximize Kingdom impact.

Jim and his wife, Sue, have been married for more than 40 years and are blessed with four adult children and six grandchildren. A former collegiate athlete, Jim attended Emporia State University on a football scholarship and was a two-year starter before completing his degree at Kansas University. In his free time, Jim enjoys spending time with family, mentoring leaders, encouraging men in their faith journeys, and cheering on the Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City Royals.
