The PastorServe Logo

Quick. Name any of the twenty most recognizable logos in the world. If you said Apple, Starbucks, Amazon, Coca-Cola, Disney, FedEx, Target, Google, Nike and McDonalds, you are correct! The list also includes 3M, Walmart, Visa, Adidas, Toyota and many more. Companies spend hundreds of millions to create a connection between a logo and the general public.

At PastorServe, we spent a little less. But our logo is just as important to us as the Nike swoosh is to the Oregon University sports teams (Nike is based in Portland and generously backs all things Oregon). The PastorServe logo was developed in 2014 in partnership with Fervor, an outstanding Kansas City based company. And like Starbucks and FedEx, our logo is intended to communicate a very important story.

The Fervor team did a wonderful job of learning the PastorServe story and discovering what we longed to daily accomplish as we sought to strengthen the church by serving pastors. They took the time to do a deep dive into our ministry to learn why we are so passionate to care for pastors. And the result of all that work was the PastorServe logo. And we love it!

The PastorServe logo is symbolic of what we pray takes place in the life of a pastor. We are working to take pastors from isolation to connection. This is so important – particularly in the midst of the pandemic. We pray that the Lord will use us to move pastors from living a sequestered life to life in community. We long to see pastors transform from spiritually and emotionally empty to full. We are praying that Lord Jesus uses us in the life of a pastor to move him or her from a spiritual desert to a place of Holy Spirit refreshment. The logo captures our daily prayer as we envision the day when no pastor walks alone.

As I have talked about many times in this letter, the goal of Satan is the destruction of the Church, the body of Christ. And the primary strategy of Satan is the isolation of those who have been called to lead the local church, the bride of Christ. We were created for community. No one was created for isolation. And yet, pastors (and many others) live increasingly fragmented, isolated lives. We listen to the lies of Satan that he whispers into our ears, the most common lies that are designed to keep us living lives of isolation. If they really knew you, they wouldn’t like you, so keep to yourself. No one can be trusted – therefore don’t share your secrets with anyone.

Just as there is a slanted gap in our logo, all too often a gap exists between isolation and connection in the lives of pastors. The work of seeing a pastor move from loneliness to Kingdom friendships is usually anything but seamless. There is hard work involved to traverse the gap that is commonly defined by fear, doubt, guilt and shame. The gap can be one of anxiousness, hurt and rejection. Through care, relationship and above all, prayer, we are seeing pastors navigate the gap that lies between being alone and ministering together.

Thank you for being a part of the PastorServe’s vision That No pastor would Walk Alone and our mission to Strengthen the Church by Serving Pastors. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, our work with pastors has never been more critical. Thanks to partners like you we are working to make our logo a living reality! Thank you!!
