Antagonists in the Church
Hey. This is Jimmy Dodd with a pastor word of encouragement.
You know, at PastorServe, we’ve been around for over 17 years. We’re gonna hear some difficult stories. But here’s the story that we hear over and over again that breaks my heart every time. And it’s just this.
A pastor will call and say, “I knew that I would go through some hard times in the pastoral ministry. I expected to take some arrows in the chest shot by Satan. But I did not expect to take arrows in the back shot by my own people.”
Those are the antagonists in the church that shoot the arrows. There are antagonists everywhere. They’re at the school board meeting. They’re at your kids’ swim meet. They’re everywhere.
They always wanna have their way. They always wave that red flag. They always think that their way is absolutely the right way. And they expect everybody to bow to them.
Let me just say this as gently, yet as straightforward, as I possibly can. No amount of time that you have served in a church, no amount of money that you give to a church buys you the right to become an antagonist in your church.
Don’t be an antagonist.
Love, serve, respect, and care for your pastors well.
