Jay Fowler - PastorServe Midwest Region Executive Director

Focus on Jay Fowler, Midwest Regional Director

In September 2014, Jay Fowler came on the full time staff of PastorServe, as the Executive Director of the Midwest Region.  A great addition to our team, Jay is an ordained Anglican priest in the Anglican Church of North America. Jay has been in full-time pastoral ministry for over 30 years. During that time he has always taken young pastors under his wing to encourage and coach them. He enjoys using his gifts of shepherding, teaching, leading, and evangelism to pastor and equip pastors.

Jay grew up in Prairie Village, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, and has lived in the Kansas City area for most of his life. After becoming a Christian through his high school youth group, Jay got involved with Young Life and was a Summer Intern at Colonial Presbyterian Church while he was in college. After graduating from the University of Kansas, he was a full-time youth minister at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Kansas City, Missouri. While there, he discipled students and developed leaders and led a Young Life style, relational, youth ministry which reached hundreds of kids.

After graduating from seminary with a Masters of Divinity degree, he was ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church. He served as an Assistant Rector in Mission, KS and then as the Assistant Rector of St. Philip’s Church, Charleston, SC.  In 1995 Jay and his wife Janine, moved back to Kansas to plant a church, which he pastored for 19 years. In 2001 he became an Anglican.

Jay is deeply concerned about the soul of pastors. He believes it is crucial for them to know and believe the love God has for them. That’s because pastors can only give away what they have received from the Lord. (Matt. 10:8)  So, Jay enjoys reminding pastors of the gospel and grace that they are telling their congregations about. He wants to see pastors love Jesus Christ, love their families and lead healthy churches.

Since joining the PastorServe staff Jay has connected with hundreds of pastors in Kansas City and beyond. Besides being a pastor to pastors, Jay loves hanging out with his wife Janine, to whom he’s been married for 30 years. He also loves spending time with their son and two daughters, watching movies, listening to music, and playing just about any kind of game.  He’s been playing racquetball and guitar for many years and still hopes he can get a little better at each!
